Ontario Nature Representative : JOAN ROSEBUSH

Joan Rosebush joined ONC 11 years ago, upon moving to Orillia and later she became president .. She wanted to remain involved with club decisions and help with its operation and so she has become our representative to Ontario Nature.

Joan had no naturalist background before Orillia. She joined ONC to meet people and to learn about the outdoors. But discovering those who walked, skied, paddled or biked to savour nature, led to a new lifestyle. Every season in Simcoe County brought new discoveries and friendships. Fall walks with fresh crisp breezes and brilliant colour, scanning the skies during the Christmas bird count, or skiing through Simcoe County Forest followed by a cup of hot tea with a laughing group, made great adventures.

Joan was born in Winnipeg and moved to Toronto as a child. Life there included becoming a pharmacist, marrying John and raising a son and daughter, working, and amateur theatre. Life in Simcoe County brought new interests such as kayaking, cross-country skiing (as well as downhill), snowshoeing, biking and taking the time to look at the flora and fauna. Orillia happenings are important. John is on the Hospital Foundation Board. Joan is  involved with the Ladies of the Lake, who are concerned with the health of Lake Simcoe. .
