PHONING:  Mary E Mick

Mary Mick continues on the executive as the Phoning Chair. In the past she has had the positions of President ( for 2 years), Social
Convener, Chairman of the Conservation Committee and Archivist,- lots of experience to draw on. Since many of our members now have e-mail, the
work of the phoning committee should be less onerous.
She arrived from Scotland to Canada as an exchange teacher, but in 1965 she married Omer, moved to Powassan, and became a farmer's wife until
1967, when they moved to Orillia. She eventually became a Canadian citizen, so that she could vote.
She has taught intermittently since coming to Orillia, and received a BA from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1977.
Although she had been retired since 1990, she has been a very active volunteer: The Literacy Council, the Historical Society, Meals on Wheels,
and Helping Hands. She has been the Volunteer Coordinator for the Couchiching Conservancy. She could never do all these activities except for the great
help of Omer, a real support to all her volunteering.
They have 2 children , Elizabeth and Isabel, and 4 grandchildren.
